Principal Investigators

John Lauermann is an Associate Professor in the School of Information and Faculty Director of the Spatial Analysis and Visualization Initiative at the Pratt Institute. His research uses GIS to map the impact of extreme inequality in US cities, on topics such as gentrification, housing, and mega-projects.

Darrel Alejandro Holnes is an Assistant Professor of English at Medgar Evers College, a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY), and he is a faculty member of the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University (NYU) where he mostly teaches creative writing and research-based playwriting. He is also an affiliate faculty member of the CUNY Graduate Center where he teaches ethnographic research methods. He has presented his research and work in education at the Association for Writers and Writing Programs annual conferences and the American Folklore Society’s annual meeting, among other academic conferences. He has also taught theater courses and creative writing workshops in various online and summer programs worldwide. Holnes is an Afro-Panamanian writer who is the author of Stepmotherland, winner of the Andres Montoya Poetry Prize, and Migrant Psalms, winner of the Drinking Gourd Poetry Prize. Maria DeLongoria chairs the Department of Social and Behavioral Science at Medgar Evers College, and co-leads related initiatives like the Crown Heights Oral History Project.
